This Thursday, 25th of June, is our excursion to the Zoo. Please make sure your child has their recess, lunch and water bottle in a plastic bag clearly labelled with their name on the front. Comfortable walking shoes are also a must! If any students have a clip board at home they will be required to bring that into class also. This way they can have something to lean on when completing their activities around the Zoo. School bags will not be taken to the Zoo so please ensure everything your child needs is placed into the plastic bag and clearly labelled.
Thank you for your ongoing support.

Science - Classification of Animals
This term for Science, we are focusing on the classification of different living creatures. On Thursday, the Year 3s are going to the Zoo to learn more about classifying animals and to see many different varieties of animals.
We used a branching key to see what family each animal belonged to. We found out that humans are mammals.
We went exploring around the school to find many different creatures so we could practice our classifying skills. We found out that a lizard is a reptile, an ant is an insect, a snail is a mollusc and a bird is simply a bird. Have a look at some of our amazing photos from our animal adventure. After our excursion to the Zoo, stayed tuned for more information about animals and pictures of our wonderful time!

Our Cinquain Poems
This week for our Big Write Session, we have been learning about Cinquain Poems. We had to write about a Storm and a Sunset. Thanks you to our parents for assisting us with our Talk Homework this week.
We discussed the different verbs, adjectives and similes we could use in our poems. After that we did a plan on the board to help us with our writing. Below are some examples from our class.

PR1ME Maths
This year we have our brand new Maths program called PR1ME Maths. We absolutely love Maths time and getting to use our colourful Course Book and Practice Book. There are so many activities on the different things we are learning, so we have lots of chances to practice and become really good at it. Over the past few weeks we have been focusing on long multiplication and division. It was very tricky when we first started but we are getting much better! Like Mrs Szczepanik always says, "Practice makes perfect!"
First, we all get our Course books and come down onto the mat. Mrs Szczepanik loads up our lesson on the smart board so we can all see. It is really cool because we have the same pages in our books! Mrs S shows us how to do the concept that we are learning. This part is called 'I do.'
Next, we do lots of examples in our Course Books with Mrs S. This part is called 'we do.' We get to even write on the smart board some times and share our work with the person next to us!
Finally, when we understand how to do the concept we go back to our desks and in our Practice Books we practice what we have just learnt. This is the 'you do' part. Sometimes we even get to play games and do rotations so we get even more practice!
