When we arrived at the Zoo we had an activity sheet to complete. We went around to each different section of the Zoo and studied the animals and habitats. We had so much fun and all agreed that the Baboons were our favorite animals because of their red bottoms!
We also got to participate in a special classifying lesson in the Discovery Center with Taryn. We learnt how to further classify animals and Taryn was extremely impressed with our knowledge about animals. We learnt that reptiles have scales, fish have gills, mammals have fur and birds have feathers. Taryn gave us different animal coverings and we had to sort them into the correct animal family. We all got confused when Taryn showed us an elephants tail hair as it looked and felt like wire!
After our lesson we got to touch a Stimpson Python called Bart Stimpson. Everyone in Room 21 was so brave and touched Bart to feel his scaley skin. We also learnt that Mrs Szczepanik is extremely scared of snakes, it was funny!
We had such a FUN day and learnt so much about classifying animals. Our new favourite place is the Zoo! We must say a massive thank you to our wonderful parent helpers who came along to help us have a super day. Thank you to Sharline Williams, Shay Sydenham, Judy Franklin and Simone Nash for being the best parent helpers we could of asked for. Thank you so much!
